I find the below info from github. Sources of Dockerfile generated Docker image "Debian with SSH, dbus and latest bluez bluetooth stack" for Hilscher’s netPI. Base of this image builds debian with enabled SSH, a source code compiled bluez stack bluez and firmware for the onboard BCM bluetooth chip BCM43438. https://github.com/HilscherAutomation/netPI-bluetooth
We have the below problem.
1.Can NetPI RTE3 support bluetooth?
2.Can use the above bluetooth sorce code?
1. Yes both netPI RTE 3 and netPI CORE 3 both are using the same BCM43438 chip which is a Wifi/Bluetooth combo chip. I have appended the data sheet to this post.
2. And yes all projects offered on github are free of charge and can be used by anyone who is interested it. Especially since the github repository provided is just a recipe (Dockerfile) of how to compile the stack and what to do to get bluetooth operative. So reuse the repository for your own repository without any limitations. This is why we make this kind of example containers for netPI.
Thx

Hi Armin,
if we buy NetPi RTE3, does it include Ethercat firmware - meaning we can plug & play with Beckhoff PLC?
At https://hub.docker.com/u/hilschernetpi/ you find all the example containers that can be loaded onto netPI. One container you mentined already which is the Bluetooth example.
I recommend to enter the search term "ethercat" into the forum's search. You will find multiple threads talking about implementing Ethercat slave in netPI RTE 3 already.

Hello Armin,
if we buy netPI RTE3,we need to buy the Bluetooth antenna again?
Can the antenna support wifi and Bluetooth at the same time?
no it is not necessary to buy an extra bluetooth antenna. It is already part of any netPI.
As with the original Raspberry Pi 3B there is a chip antenna used that supports both Wifi and Bluetooth at the same time. This antenna is connected to the BCM43438 chip.
Since netPI has a metallic housing we put the chip antenna outside the housing with a small bridge in the PCB with a plastic dome around it to protect it.
Thx
